A celestial gem in the heart of the Andes Humantay Lake is more than a natural wonder — it’s a sacred mirror where the apus (mountain spirits) reflect. Nestled at the foot of the mighty Salkantay glacier, this turquoise lake shines like a natural temple. You’ll hike through high-altitude landscapes, breathe the silence of the mountains, and connect with Pachamama at over 4,200 meters above sea level. A day of challenge and reward in the sacred range.
Meals: Breakfast and Launch
04:30 – 05:00 a.m.
Pick-up from hotel in Cusco Departure toward the north of the region, heading for the valleys and snow-capped peaks of Mollepata and Soraypampa. Along the way, you’ll pass through puna landscapes, gorges, and picturesque Andean villages.
07:00 – 07:30 a.m.
Breakfast in Mollepata Enjoy a traditional Andean breakfast in a local restaurant to fuel up before the hike.
07:30 - 08:30 a.m.
Arrival at Soraypampa Start of the hike to Humantay Lake. The trail climbs gradually along a mountain path, offering stunning views of Salkantay glacier and the vast Andes.
10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Arrival at Humantay Lake The reward is breathtaking: a turquoise lake guarded by the sacred apus Humantay and Salkantay. Free time to meditate, make an offering to Pachamama, take photos, or simply contemplate in silence.
11:30 – 1:00 p.m.
Descent to Soraypampa Return via the same path, with new perspectives on the landscape.
01:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Lunch in Mollepata Buffet lunch in a rural restaurant. Time to rest and share the experience.
02:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Return to Cusco Journey back to the city of Cusco. Estimated arrival between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. End of a high-altitude adventure.
